These Oxford volumes were somehow separated from the rest of the collection now in the Bibliothèque nationale (Paris). Most are done lightly in pencil, then overdrawn in ink, and coloured with watercolour. Not all the drawings are by the same artist. They were presented by Gaignières to Louis XIV in 1711. These drawings are sometimes the only evidence left for some lost monuments. The present descriptions are based on J. Bertram, Gough's Sepulchral Monuments (unpublished, 2004).
